Terms and conditions
Terms and conditions
1. About these terms
These terms and conditions (the "Terms") apply to LAQTA (لقطة) (the "Competition"), a one-day AI marketing campaign competition organised by Qatar Insurance Company Q.S.P.C. ("QIC").
By applying, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Notice in section 13. If you do not agree, do not apply.
These Terms are issued in Arabic and English. If they differ, the Arabic version prevails.
2. The Competition
- The Competition is a test of skill. All finalists receive the same brief when the organisers start the clock on the event day, and have 4 hours to create one full marketing campaign using AI tools. The organisers choose the top 10, and invited guests score their presentations against the criteria in section 8. There is no element of chance.
- Entry is free. No purchase of any QIC product or service is needed.
3. Dates and venue
Applications close on 31 Oct at 23:59 Doha time. The event day is 5 Nov at the QIC Digital & AI Hub, QLM Building, 2nd floor, Tamin Street, West Bay, Doha. We confirm details by email and on this website, and may change them under section 15.
4. Who can enter
To enter you must:
- be at least 18 years old;
- live in Qatar and hold a valid Qatar ID; and
- be able to attend the whole event day.
- QIC Group employees, the organising team, invited guests who score at the finale, and their immediate families cannot enter. One application per person. We may ask for proof of age, identity and residence.
5. How to apply
- Register on this website and complete the application truthfully.
- Upload one qualifier clip: an original vertical video of up to 10 seconds, with sound, in MP4 or MOV. It must be made with AI tools: fully with AI, or your own footage mixed with AI.
- Late, incomplete or failed uploads are not accepted. The time recorded by our server decides.
6. Selection
The organisers watch every qualifier clip and offer up to 20 places. Selected makers must confirm they are coming by 3 Nov, or the place may pass to someone else. We do not give individual feedback.
7. Event day and content rules
- The event is by invitation only. Only selected makers who have confirmed may attend. Guests and plus-ones are not allowed. Bring your Qatar ID.
- Finalists work alone, keep the brief confidential, and upload one campaign PDF and one master video through this website before the clock runs out. Uploads lock automatically at zero.
- AI tools are given on the day for the Competition only. Access is personal, each tool's terms of use must be followed, and access ends after the event.
- Work must be original and lawful in Qatar. It must not use the face, voice or name of a real person without their written consent; use third-party trademarks, music or footage without permission; contain offensive, discriminatory, political, religiously insensitive or indecent material; or include anyone's personal data.
- The brief may ask entrants to feature QIC or its products. Campaigns are creative entries only. They are not statements by QIC, and QIC will not publish anything officially until it has reviewed and approved it.
- We may disqualify any entrant or work that breaks these Terms.
8. Judging
The organisers review every campaign (master video and campaign PDF) and choose the top 10. The top 10 present on stage in an order set by the organisers, using our screen and equipment. From the moment a finalist presents, invited guests can view and download each finalist's campaign PDF on their phones through a QR code on the screen.
Invited guests score each presentation, by name, on four scales from 1 to 5: creativity, applicability, craft and pitch. The organisers set the final ranking from 1 to 10, taking the scores into account, and reveal it on the stage screen. The organisers' decisions are final.
9. Prizes
- Prizes for the top 3, a gift box for places 4 to 10, and a certificate of participation for every maker who completes the event day.
- QIC may offer internships to finalists from the top of the ranking, subject to QIC's standard onboarding requirements and the finalist being eligible to work or train in Qatar. An internship is not an offer of permanent employment.
- Prizes cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash. We may replace a prize with one of equal or higher value.
10. Rights in your work
- You grant QIC, and anyone QIC authorises, an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free and transferable right to use, copy, edit, adapt, translate, publish and otherwise exploit, in any media and for any purpose, your qualifier clip, your campaign PDF, your master video and all materials you prepare for the Competition, including stills, copy, scripts, prompts, storyboards, audio and drafts ("Your Work"), without further payment or approval.
- QIC does not have to use Your Work. Where practical, QIC may credit you.
- You confirm that you have the right to grant these rights and that QIC's use of Your Work will not infringe anyone else's rights.
- You may show Your Work in your personal portfolio, crediting the Competition.
11. Photos and filming
The event will be photographed and filmed. By attending, you agree that QIC may use these recordings, your name and Your Work to publicise the Competition and QIC.
12. Conduct
We may disqualify or remove anyone who gives false information, cheats, gets help from others, brings uninvited guests, tries to manipulate the scoring, or behaves in an abusive or unsafe way.
13. Privacy Notice (summary)
- QIC processes personal data under Law No. 13 of 2016 on Personal Data Privacy Protection.
- What we collect: your full name, username, email, mobile number, university, date of birth, your CV, your portfolio if you send one, your uploads (video, campaign PDF, master video), consent records, and event photos. From invited guests who score: the name they type, their scores and notes.
- Why: to run the Competition and award prizes, for safety, to meet legal duties, and for publicity under sections 10 and 11.
- Who sees it: the organisers. It is stored on QIC's cloud platform, and emails are sent through QIC's mail service.
- How long: applicant data, uploads and guests' scores are deleted 90 days after the event, except Your Work kept under section 10.
- Your rights: you can ask to see, correct or delete your data at laqta@qic.online. We send marketing only if you opt in.
14. Liability
To the extent permitted by Qatari law, QIC is not liable for lost property, failures of third-party tools or the internet, or costs entrants incur to take part. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Qatari law.
15. Changes and cancellation
We may change these Terms, dates, venue, tools or prizes where reasonably needed. We may postpone or cancel the Competition for reasons beyond our control or if an authority requires it.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Qatar, and the courts of Doha have jurisdiction. The Arabic version prevails.
